Of Happiness: A Year of Better

It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone. 2015 was full of challenges and rewards; missteps and memories; tears and laughter; lessons and love. I started my own business. I started graduate school. Needless to say, it’s been busy, but rewarding.

It’s the first year since 2007 that I didn’t have to move into a new apartment or neighborhood. It’s the first year since 2011 that I traveled to both New York City and Los Angeles within two months.

It’s also the first year that I won’t be making a typical New Years resolution for the year to come. No specific number of pounds to lose, no specific number of books to read, no specific amount of money saved.

2016 is going to be the year of better. Not numbers, not checking the box, just better. I am resolving to be better than I was in 2015.

  1. I am going to be more financially responsible
  2. I am going to be healthier
  3. I am going to be more confident
  4. I am going to have more fun
  5. I am going to be a better me

Instead of vowing (and sometimes failing) to lose 20 pounds, or workout 4 times a week, or save $2,000 by 2017, I am going to celebrate the choices I make to be better. It’s all about not dwelling on meeting these arbitrary measures of success in the form of a number on the scale or the number in my savings account. It’s all about focusing on making decisions that will be lead to me being a better person.

Being the best me in terms of health, happiness, & love is my priority for 2016. Can’t wait to share it with you!

Happy New Year – how are you going to be a better you in 2016?
