Fall is here. It’s a little sad to write this, but considering that it’s already halfway through September, I have to accept it. The temps are hitting the lower 60’s, some slightly premature leaves are changing, and my fall wardrobe is starting to emerge from my closet. Besides those key signs that the season is changing, #NYFW is coming to an end for another season as well. Now that we know what designers have planned for our Spring/Summer 2017, we can embrace the trends for Fall 2016 with full force.
As I do at the beginning of most seasons, I’ve been browsing my favorite stores for new arrivals. As usual, I’m noticing a few key trends emerging that I am quickly falling in love with – lace-ups, velvet, dramatic sleeves, and bomber jackets. Whether it’s stylish detailing, luxurious fabrics, or deep fall tones, see below for a few of my favorite items to bring these trends to life in your fall ensemble.
Lace-Ups.
Whether it’s adorning your heels, flats, or the V-neck on your blouse, the lace-up trend is being featured prominently again this Fall season. Adding a little sass and femininity to any outfit, the lace-up trend can be dressed up when featured on the lace-up heels or the flowy blouse below, or dressed down on a comfortable sweater. Pair those heels with a fall floral maxi for the perfect date night outfit.
Velvet.
It’s hard not to love a fabric as soft, silky, and luxurious as velvet. It screams sophistication and romanticism. I love how the LC Lauren Conrad Runway Collection has incorporated this fabric into the collection with a deep red blazer and the pale pink vest below. Mixing this luxe fabric with menswear-inspired pieces is the perfect combination for this fall season. Try the velvet one-button blazer below for a more structured look that’s perfect for the office or brunch and shopping on a Saturday. Want to add velvet to your look in a softer way, these velvet heels are ideal for your stems in both softness and sophistication.
Dramatic Sleeves.
Wear your heart on your sleeve in these bellowy pieces. Whether it’s a subtle ruffle on a short-sleeve, or the dramatic bell-shaped sleeve on a cold-shoulder top, there is no way to go wrong with this trend. Ruffles and romance are on the menu for this fall season, and I am loving it!
Bomber Jackets.
The emergence of the bomber jacket in a variety of shapes, colors, and fabrics has made the transition out of short-sleeves for fall very easy. I snatched up a gray and black boucle version this past spring, but I am loving the puffer and quilted versions showing up right in time for fall. This piece is an extremely dynamic addition to your closet and can be dressed up with a skirt, is super stylish with a maxi, or can be paired with joggers or jeans for a more laid back look.
